Widsith
Get the addon

Your World of Warcraft character’s whole journey, kept as it was played.

A small World of Warcraft addon writes down what happens to your character while you play. Widsith replays it on the map, keeps the history, and ranks your runs beside everyone else’s in WoW Forever and Retail.

How it works

Three steps, and only the first asks anything of you.

  1. 1Addon

    Record

Install it in World of Warcraft. It writes down what happens as you play.

Nothing to set up, nothing to remember.

    CurseForge Wago GitHub

  2. 2Your file

    Send

Drop your Widsith.lua on any page. It plays here, in your browser.

Let the optional uploader send it. New play goes to Widsith by itself after you play.

    GitHub

  3. 3Your page

    Watch and share

Every character gets a page: the replay on the map, its history, and where its runs stand. Share it, or keep it to yourself.

The Widsith addon

Records what happens to your World of Warcraft character while you play.

Install it

  1. 1
Download the zip, or add it through CurseForge or Wago.
  2. 2
Unzip it into Interface\AddOns in your game’s version folder. An addon manager does this for you.
  3. 3
Play. The flame by the minimap burns while it records. Click it to save and stoke the fire; it glows when it burns low. Right-click it for the menu.

Get it

Free, as Blizzard’s addon policy asks, and open to read: the source is on GitHub. What it records, in full · Licence

The Widsith Uploader

A small Windows app that sends your new play to Widsith by itself.

Install it

  1. 1
Download it and run the installer.
  2. 2
Link it with the code it shows, under Linked computers in your settings.
  3. 3
Before it sends anything, it asks how to keep new characters. It can keep each one Private as soon as it plays, or it can ask you about each one. You can make a character Public on its page here.

Get it

It only ever reads Widsith.lua and the addon’s version number. The installer is signed, so Windows can show who made it. Without it, you can open the file on the site yourself. Its source is on GitHub.

What’s coming

What is being built now. Vote on the roadmap for what should come after.

The whole roadmap
  • Your week in review

A short look back at each week of play, with the levels, quests, dungeons and places it held, to keep or to share.

  • Deaths told in full

What hit you in the seconds before a death, shown on the replay as the game’s own death recap shows it.

  • Gold over time

Where your gold came from and where it went, from loot and quest rewards to vendors and the auction house.

Sign in with Battle.net

Battle.net tells Widsith your BattleTag, your account’s permanent ID and which characters are on your account, so a character you bring can be shown to be yours. It never gives us your password or your email address, and we keep nothing more than that.

Signed in, your characters are on every computer you sign in on, and the Widsith Uploader can send your new play for you.

By continuing you agree to the Terms of Service and the Privacy page.

Open your recording

The game only writes Widsith.lua when the interface reloads. If you have played since you last brought it, click the Widsith flame by your minimap, or log out, or type /reload.

Where the file is

C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft ›_classic_beta_ ›WTF ›Account ›your account ›your realm ›your character ›SavedVariables › Widsith.lua

Each character has a file of its own. The Where’s my file? guide walks you to it.

If you'd rather not find it each time, the Widsith Uploader sends your recordings for you after you play.

The recording plays straight away in this browser. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to keep it on Widsith.
